Over VND30 billion for sea and island fund

Over 30 billion was mobilized from organizations and individuals to add to the fund for sea and islands during the 5th art performance looking towards the nation’s sea and islands, held by the Ho Chi Minh city Fatherland Front in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh city Television on September 21st.

During the performance, the audience not only enjoyed art works about borders, sea and islands, but also exchanged with cadres and soldiers working at border, sea and island areas of the nation, thus gaining a deeper understanding about their lives and responsibilities in protecting national sovereignty. 

According to To Thi Bich Chau, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh city Fatherland Front, the performance aims to increase people’s awareness in the role and strategic position of borders, sea and islands; and strengthen people’s affection to cadres, soldiers and residents engaged in tasks of protecting border, sea and island sovereignty.

“The performance also targets to encourage donation to the fund on sea and islands,” said Ms Chau.

The fund will continue to care for the lives of navy, border guard, fisheries surveillance force, coast guard cadres and soldiers, as well as residents living in border areas and on islands. In addition, the fund will also be used to assist the cadres’ and soldiers’ relatives, in order to encourage them to well fulfil their tasks in protecting the border, sea and island sovereignty.

One of the activities of great significance that the fund is supporting is the construction project providing fresh water for cadres, soldiers and residents in the 7 border provinces of Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang and Ca Mau./.
