The information was announced during a meeting held in Hanoi on July 24th by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) to review payment of gratitude activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Day for Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs (July 27th).

Apart from the donated capital, localities have built and repaired nearly 19,000 houses, using over VND736 billion; and presented 207,982 presents worth nearly VND122 billion.

The management board of the payment of gratitude fund has decided to allocate VND2.8 billion to build 70 houses for 70 beneficiaries’ families in 14 localities.

During the meeting, VFF President Tran Thanh Man expressed his admiration for and pride in wounded soldiers who, he said, despite their injuries, together with care from the Party and State as well as the assistance of the people, have strived in production to increase their families’ living standards and contribute to national development.

“Many of them have made achievements in scientific research and social activities, deserving Uncle Ho’s teachings in becoming exemplary citizens and revolutionary families,” said Mr. Man.

According to the VFF President, although State preferential policies for revolutionary contributors have made practical impacts on their lives, many of them are leading difficult lives, which require greater care from agencies and communities.

He urged localities to better care for wounded soldiers, martyrs’ relatives and revolutionary contributors, striving to have 100% of communes recognized for doing well the work for soldiers, martyrs’ relatives and revolutionary contributors; and 100% of beneficiaries’ families having equivalent or higher living standard compared with residents at localities.

He also reminded communities of Uncle Ho’s teachings in loving and assisting wounded soldiers, martyrs’ families and revolutionary contributors’ families, as they are credited with the fatherland and people.

In the near future, the VFF will work with Veterans’ Associations at all levels to recheck the number of wounded soldiers who are in need of wheelchairs for continued provision of wheelchairs to them./.
