A ground-breaking ceremony was held on October 12th to begin the construction of a waste-to-power plant in the northern province of Phu Tho, using a capital of USD90 million.

Model of the plant
The plant, with a capacity of 1,000 tons per day, will operate advanced waste treatment technology which suits the treatment of unclassified waste, producing energy to generate power.

After being completed and put into operation in 2019, it will help treat 100% of household waste in the province, contribute some 65-67 million kWh of power per year in the first phase and double that amount of power in the second phase. Some 25,000 cubic metres of unburned bricks and other secondary products will also be collected from the waste treatment process.

This is the first waste-to-power plant built in Phu Tho province, as well as in surrounding northern mountainous localities./.
