Quang Nam province increases inspection of food safety for APEC

The Quang Nam provincial health sector has been increasing the inspection of food safety, environmental protection and the prevention of diseases in Hoi An city and other localities ahead of APEC Senior Finance Officials’ Meeting and Related Seminars, as well as other APEC events which will be held in the province from October 18th to November 11th.
Since October 9th, the provincial Health Department has directed related agencies to carry out a program on sanitizing the environment and spraying chemicals to kill mosquitoes.
Nguyen Cam, Head of the provincial Food Safety Department, said that food safety inspections will be carried out in localities where APEC events will be held.
Accordingly, the department will take water samples for testing, instruct restaurants and hotels serving APEC events on how to meet hygienic regulations, ensure the provision of safe food, and inspect the health and personnel hygiene of those who directly process food for APEC delegates and guests.
Nguyen Van Van, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam provincial Health Department, also confirmed a general inspection on food safety from provincial to grassroots levels, in order to ensure complete food safety during APEC and contribute to the success of the APEC Year 2017 in Vietnam./.
