Four years after the implementation of the program on safe water and environmental hygiene in rural areas, the northern mountainous province of Quang Ninh has carried out 9 of 10 projects, providing safe water to over 95,000 residents.

Accordingly, the province has put into operation 5 of 10 concentrated water supply constructions. Notable is the construction in Hai Lang commune, Tien Yen district, where local residents had to use water from ponds, wells and rain water.

The construction, invested with over VND36 billion and with a capacity of 2,320 cubic metres per day, can provide water to over 4,000 residents at 100 litres per person per day.

According to Nguyen Viet Anh, Director of the provincial Centre for Rural Water and Environmental Hygiene, to continue to carry out the remaining project and build additional water supply constructions for rural residents, the central and provincial relevant agencies have planned to invest in projects in areas that do not have access to safe water.

“All the efforts target to provide safe water to all rural residents,” said Mr. Anh./.
