Song Ma district police busted a drug trafficking case and seized two men for illegally transporting a large volume of opium resin in Chieng Cang commune, Song Ma district, Son La province, on May 16th.
The two men are Quang Van Duong, born in 1983, from Muon village, Muong Hung commune, Song Ma district, and Le Van Thuy, born in 1992, Co Bay village, Muong Cai commune, Song Ma district.
The police seized 35 pieces of opium resin, weighing 16kg, two motorbikes, two mobile phones, a scale and some other related objects.
The two men admitted that they bought the drugs in the border area with the intention to sell them for profit.
When discovered, the pair threw away the contraband and fiercely resisted the officers, even attempting to plunge into Ma river to escape, but they failed./.
