Thua Thien - Hue province invests nearly VND1.2 trillion restructuring agricultural production

The central province of Thua Thien - Hue is carrying out 12 projects worth nearly VND1.2 trillion to restructure agricultural production from now until 2020.

The projects aims to increase the added values of products and develop a sustainable agricultural production while promoting comprehensive agricultural and rural development, in combination with building new-style rural areas and protecting the environment on the basis of making the most advantage of agriculture.


Accordingly, in agriculture, the province will focus its restructuring on plantation, breeding, forestry, fisheries, irrigation, processing industry, rural industries and restructuring in key agricultural products.

In plantation, some 3,300 hectares of ineffective rice production areas in mountainous and coastal areas, and those lacking water will be used to plant maize, peanut, vegetables or flowers, or to do aquaculture. It will also stabilize the production of 52,000 hectares of rice production; 1,000 hectares of tea; 7,500-8,000 hectares of cassava; and some 13,500 hectares of rubber.

Forest area will be increased to 293,250 hectares, including 122,100 hectares of production forests.

In fishery production, Thua Thien-Hue will develop shrimp production across some 900 hectares for export with a productivity of some 13,500 tons; and increase 15% of 90CV offshore vessels at present to more than 30% by 2020 in order to raise the offshore fisheries productivity to 70%.

By 2020, the province targets to obtain the agricultural growth of over 3.5%; food productivity of 310,000-320,000 tons per year; fisheries productivity of 73,000 tons per year; and rural families’ income increasing by 1.7-2 times compared to 2015./.
