Unique trees producing 10 different kinds of fruits welcome Tet

The garden of Le Duc Giap from Cao Vien commune, Thanh Oai district, Hanoi, has 100 trees that produce five different kinds of fruits. In particular, on some trees, 10 different kinds of fruits are grafted and developed.
The successful grafting of 10 kinds of fruits on one tree is brought about by painstaking work.
Such fruits as different varieties of grapefruits, Buddha’s hands, mandarin oranges, oranges, kumquat and lemons are grafted and well developed on one tree.
According to Mr. Giap, the mother tree is often grapefruit, which is a big and strong tree.
Skill is needed to graft the fruits’ stems into the trees’ branches so that the fruits receive nutrition from the tree.
The work starts from June of the lunar calendar.
Each tree has up to nearly 100 fruits in total, besides buds, young fruits and flowers.
The trees can be used for decoration and signify prosperity.

The trees are sold at VND1.5-10 million each, bringing an income of VND300-500 million per year.Half of Mr. Giap’s trees in his garden have been sold.
