Vietnamese, Korean hospitals increase healthcare cooperation

Nearly 20,000 people in Quang Ngai province have received medical check-ups and treatment over the past 10 years thanks to the medical cooperative program between the provincial People’s Committee, the Republic of Korea’s Chung-Ang University Hospital and the Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam Co., Ltd.

The figure was announced during a meeting on October 15th to review the program.

Accordingly, since 2009, with capital of over USD723,000 the program has brought practical results in giving free healthcare to poor people; presenting medical equipment to hospitals; carrying out cleft lip and cleft palate as well as heart surgeries among children; and supporting training of medical staff. Additionally, patients with cataract, or obstetrics and gynaecology problems, have also been treated.

The Chung-Ang University Hospital has supported increasing the quality of medical staff at the Quang Ngai General Hospital; provided medical equipment such as PHACO surgery machines, physical therapy and rehabilitation devices to hospitals in the province.

Marking 10 years of cooperation, the Chung-Ang University Hospital has also assisted the Quang Ngai provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital with medical equipment worth USD56,000./.
