Vietnamese vaccines to reach global market

From now to 2020, Vietnam provides at least seven kinds of domestically produced vaccines in the open vaccination program which replace imported vaccines, and is looking toward vaccine export, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has reported.

The Ministry has also revealed that Vietnam is one of 42 countries which are able to produce vaccines and one of the 39 countries recognized by the World Health Organization as having international standard vaccine management.

So far, it has produced 10 kinds of vaccines, eight of which have been used in the national open vaccination program.

According to MoH Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Long, there are four vaccine production plants in Vietnam, producing diverse of vaccines against tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis, lockjaw, measles, paralytic, hepatitis A and B, Japanese encephalitis B, cholera and typhoid, and measles - rubella.

“Our nation is actively researching and producing more vaccines to protect children,” he said.

Furthermore, Vietnam gives priority in researching and development to the 6-in-1 and 5-in-1 vaccines, replacing imported vaccines and looks towards exporting vaccines. The quality of production technology must be improved as well./.
