She made the statement during a meeting of the council of sponsors on January 6th.

In 2017 and 2018, the NFVC fulfilled its assigned tasks in terms of mobilization of resources and capital for protecting and caring for children. Accordingly, nearly 189,000 extremely disadvantaged children were assisted using over VND124 billion. In 2018 alone, the fund provided assistance worth over VND80 billion for 105,000 children through heart, eye and birth defect surgeries, as well as long-term sponsorship.

According to Ms Thinh, the activities of the fund have been expanded, focusing on supporting extremely disadvantaged children. For those in remote areas, apart from programs giving scholarships and presents, the fund has helped build boarding houses, schools, dining rooms, meals and projects for autistic children.

The Vice State President urged each member of the council of sponsors, in 2019, to continue to encourage sponsorship from international investors as well as large groups in Vietnam.

Suggesting that the fund should establish a fund for scholarship to prevent children from dropping out of school, she also urged the fund to conduct assessment on the efficiency of programs being carried out./.
