VND3.65 trillion investment for Ho Chi Minh city’s clean water

The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and the Ho Chi Minh city Finance and Investment State-owned Company (HFIC) signed a deal on August 9th to lend VND3.65 trillion for the investment into the clean water system in Ho Chi Minh city.

The deal was also signed with the Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco) in developing the water system to ensure that clean water will be allocated to all city’s families.

Accordingly, Vietcombank and HFIC will provide a credit package worth VND3.65 trillion to carry out 11 projects contracted by Sawaco, marking great social significance as they help improve quality of life for the city’s residents.

According to Tran Van Khuyen, President of the Sawaco Members’ Council, there is a great demand for capital to invest in water supply in the city. At present, the city is producing 24 million cubic metres per day.

He confirmed that Sawaco would use the capital wisely.

“The most notable issue is that which technology will be used to reduce water loss, inspect the quality of water, and strive to meet the world tendency in the fact that water can be drunk at taps,” he said./.
