As many as 19 individuals and collectives who gained excellent achievements in the community initiatives contest were awarded during a ceremony held by the Ho Chi Minh city Department of Science and Technology on December 25th.

Launched in 2016, this year, the organizing committee received 83 products and initiatives. Through the selection, the 19 most outstanding individuals and collectives were presented awards worth VND90 million for creative products which had been brought to reality for being environment friendly, economical, and highly technological.
Addressing the ceremony, Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the city Department of Science and Technology, stressed that the contest aimed to promote start-ups and innovation, not only among scientists but also among communities, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.
Stricter coordination between the city Department of Science and Technology with relevant departments and agencies will be carried out in 2018, to promptly honour and apply products into reality, according to Mr. Dung.
“We will give professional support to the products in application, and propose financial assistance from the city People’s Committee for encouraging people to boost start-ups, making contribution to developing a high quality living standard, advanced, modern and affectionate city,” he added./.
