2018: A busy year for Vietnam Tennis Federation

(CPV) - Next year, the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) for the very first time applies the tournament systems of the International Tennis Federation and the Association of Tennis Professionals, meeting the current development of the global tennis community.

Accordingly, there will be VTF Pro Tour, VTF Junior Tour, and other international tours offering “big” cash awards in 2018.

The domestic tournaments include VTF Pro Tour 1 in Central Da Nang city in February, VTF Pro Tour 2 in Central Thua Thien-Hue province in April, VTF Pro Tour 3 in Khanh Hoa province in June and VTF Pro Tour 4 in Southern hub Ho Chi Minh city in August.

VTF Junior Tour 1 is slated for Dak Lak province in March, while VTF Junior Tour 2 will take place in Southeast Tay Ninh province in June, VTF Junior Tour 3 in Can Tho city in August and VTF Junior Tour 4 in Ho Chi Minh city in November.

Meanwhile, the international events include the international U14 tournament group 2 in Ho Chi Minh city in January, Davis Cup group 3 for Asia-Pacific region in April, ITF U18 group 4 - Becamex Cup in Binh Duong in April and Men Futures F1, F2 and F3 in Thua Thien-Hue province in April and May.

The international U18 tournament group 4 is scheduled for Ho Chi Minh city in July and Hanoi capital will host the Vietnam Open in October.

Apart from that, the championship of Vietnam outstanding players (Vietravel Cup 2017) will be hosted by Nghe An from December 17th-22nd, to welcome the 71st anniversary of National Resistance Day (December 19th), the 73rd anniversary of Vietnam People's Army (December 22nd). It helps athletes developing tactical skills, as well as seeking the best ones for the national squad to compete for Davis Cup 2018, Fed Cup 2018, VIII National Sports Festival, and ASIAD 2018.

Players will compete for a total of VND400 million prize in cash, in the men’s single, women’s single, men’s double and women’s double events. All games will be broadcast live on the Sports HD Vietnam channel.

VTF President Nguyen Quoc Ky hoped that Vietnam will have representatives in the world’s top 100 players, while becoming one of the top tennis countries in ASEAN and Asia./.
