(CPV) - The withdrawal of Australia has led to a re-drawing of the AFF HDBank Futsal Championship 2017, which will now be held from October 26th to November 3rd at Ho Chi Minh city’s Phu Tho Competition Centre.

Nine teams will be divided into two groups where they will be looking to win the four available places to the AFC Futsal Championship in 2018. They will play in a robin-round module, seeking the best two teams to enter the semi-final.

Group A: Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia

Group B: Thailand, Malaysia, Timor Leste, Laos

The AFF HDBank Championship is the official qualifier for the AFC meet.

The tour is co-organized by AFF, VFF and the Voice of Vietnam, under the sponsorship of HDBank.

Tran Quoc Tuan, VFF Vice Chairman stressed the importance of the event for both the national futsal team (led by head coach Miguel Rodrigo) as well as other rivals - a double target.

Vietnam is set to enter to the final game, aiming to beat Thai rival who won 12 times in the 13 editions. Indonesia is the only other team crowned the champion in 2010.

The nation won two silvers at the 2009 and 2012 editions./.
