(CPV) - From July 2nd - August 20th, Ho Chi Minh city will send 12 badminton players and two coaches to Thailand for a training course at Bangkok-based SCG Badminton Academy in an attempt to find new talent.

It was one of the SCG’s visions to improve the life standards and lift the sports movement at the destinations where the group was located.

Coming from SCG’s Enterprise Brand Manager’s Office, Ms Venus Asavasitthithavorn, said that the training course should help Vietnamese players to sharpen their skills and develop potential at the highest level and be ready for regional and international competitions.

“Since 2002, the nation could not find any player who could reach the world level such as Vietnam's ace player Nguyen Tien Minh. He is now 34. It is a headache for us because we have talented athletes but we do not have enough support and sponsorship to push them up,” said Ms Huynh Ngoc Lien, Deputy President of the HCM city Badminton Federation.
