(CPV) - The Hoang Anh Gia Lai team tasted victory for the first time after crushing Viettel FC 3-0 in the final game of the U21 national football tournament on December 7th in Binh Duong province.
In the qualifying round, the two teams drew 0-0.
Viettel players controlled the middle area better by pushing up their formation in the first half. The turning point came as 21-year-old Hoang Thanh Tung’s header opened the score for Hoang Anh Gia Lai near the crossbar in the 23rd minute. Head coach Nguyen Hai Bien asked his students to put in their best energy to balance the game.
However, substitution striker Van Anh proved the right decision for head coach Trinh Duy Quang by doubled the gap in the 80th minute, while full back Le Van Son, 21, ended the dream of Viettel by his kick from the penalty area to give Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC the convincing victory, the trophy and the VND250 million cash prize.
Viettel FC left Go Dau stadium with VND120 million cash prize, while the two third runner-ups, Song Lam Nghe An FC and B. Binh Duong FC, received VND60 million cash prize.
The fair play title went to B. Binh Duong FC, Rmah Suo from Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC took the best goal-keeper title, the best player title belonged to Le Van Son from Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC, and the best score player title came to Phan Van Duc (Song Lam Nghe An FC) and Le Van Son (Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC) both three goals.
