(CPV) - The 21st Mekong Delta Cycling Tour for the Loc Troi Cup (former An Giang Plant Protection Cup) opened on May 10th at President Ton Duc Thang Statue, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province.

This is part of a series of activities to welcome the 126th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, and response the campaign “All the people practice physical training following great Uncle Ho”.
100 cyclists from 20 local teams (professional and amateur, including strong delegations such as Hanoi, Pharmaceutical Domesco Dong Thap, Military Zone 7, Vinh Long, An Giang talented sports school, Binh Duong talented sports school, and a team from Cambodia, will compete on a 12-stage bicycle race covering a total distance of 913km in the localities of Dong Thap, Long An, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Hau Giang, Kien Giang and the final destination Long Xuyen city.
Total prizes are valued at VND465 million.
Besides, the organizing board plans to carry out social activities such as free check-up and treatment, offering gifts/scholarships for disadvantaged students, presenting nine tonnes of rice to local citizens.
The tournament will wrap up on May 19th./.
