(CPV) - On July 24th, Hoang Quy Phuoc, a gold medalist in the 100m freestyle at Stockholm Swimming Open 2017 earlier this year, narrowly missed the individual men’s final in Budapest (Hungary).

On the second day of the FINA World Swimming Championships 2017 finals, he posted a time of 1:49.87, far off the mark of his best time 1:48:85 that he achieved at Stockholm, and not quite good enough to make the cut.

Meanwhile, Overseas Vietnamese Le Nguyen Paul (25, competing for An Giang province) only managed a 34th place finish out of 46 at the men’s 100m backstroke, while 20-year old Nguyen Thi Nhat Lam stood 41st out of 53 at the women’s 100m breaststroke.

In the six events of the finals, the Vietnamese national delegation is involved in swimming with the names Anh Vien (travelling from the US with her coach) and Hoang Quy Phuoc (being trained in Hungary).

The tour is taking place in Budapest and Balatonfüred from July 14th-30th, luring over 2,500 world leading competitors in the events of swimming, diving, high diving, synchro, open water, and water polo./.
