Nguyen Ha My wins gold, silver at 14th Singapore Open Gymnastics Championships

(CPV) - The nine member Vietnamese delegation demonstrated a successful performance at the 14th Singapore Open Gymnastics Championships, with one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

Gymnast Nguyen Ha My won a gold medal on June 18th in the Junior Ball event with 12.6 points. She was followed by Chloe Hay of Australia (12.1 points) and Arisa Tanthathoedtham of Thailand (11.65 points).

Earlier on the day, she grabbed a silver in the Hoop event with 13.1 points. She was behind Alexandra Kiroi of Australia who gained 13.3 points. Australian Ashari Gill was third with 12.4.

My’s other silver medals were in the Clubs and Ribbon classes. Her first medal was a bronze in the junior individual event on June 17th.

Also on June 18th, My’s teammate Nguyen Hong Nhung secured a silver in the Senior Ball pool with 12.4 points. Yeo Siew Lyn of the host Singapore won with 12.6 points, and her teammate Phebe Lau placed third with 11.5 points.

Under the instruction of Hanoi-origin Nguyen Thu Ha, the junior team was also third in the team category.

Hosted by Bishan Sports Hall, the event lured participants from Australia, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Thailand and Vietnam.

The tour was an impressive return for Vietnam to the regional stage, after a long time of preparation./.
