RoK head coach Park Hang Seo arrives in Hanoi

(CPV) - After four hours of flying, on the afternoon of October 10th, RoK head coach Park Hang Seo arrived in Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport.

He then eyed the Vietnam-Cambodia match at My Dinh National Stadium on the same day, signing the contract with VFF on the morning of October 11th. 

“I am very happy to be here in Vietnam. A lot of challenges are waiting for me. I hope to do my best at the job, bringing Vietnam’s football to the continent level”, he said.

Details of the contract between the two sides are still in the dark, however, it is likely to last for two years, and the new head coach is expected to lead the U23, Olympic and national squads. This year, U23 team will play the final round of the Asian tour, while the Olympic squad attends Asiad 2018, and members of the national team will compete for the qualifying round of Asian Cup 2019 and AFF Cup 2018.

As scheduled, his very first game will kick off on November 14th to see rivals from Afghanistan in the qualifying round of Asian Cup 2019. For U23 Vietnam team, Mr Park Hang Seo to officially take on the mission in a friendly game with Thailand this December.

VFF said that this RoK coach has presumed a lot of experience by acting as assistant for the Republic of Korea national squad in the last two World Cup events (1994 in the US and 2002 in Japan). Especially, during World Cup 2002, the former midfielder made great contributions to the success of his national team led by Dutch football manager and former player Guus Hiddink, helping the nation to a historic 4th-place finish.

The 60-year-old head coach helped the U23 Republic of Korea national squad to gain a bronze medal at Asian Game Busan on September 2002, as well as showing his name in some local professional football clubs./.
