First held in 2005, the AFC U-16 Women's Championship is a biennial women's football tournament for youth teams organised by the Asian Football Confederation. It further serves as the qualifying competition for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
Accordingly,
Group A: Thailand (hosts), Myanmar, Jordan, Guam, Laos and Pakistan
Group B: The Republic of Korea, India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Northern Mariana Islands and Lebanon
Group C: Islamic Republic of Iran, Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh (hosts), United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan and Singapore
Group D: Uzbekistan, Australia, Vietnam (hosts), Hong Kong (China), Palestine and Iraq
Vietnam faces a lot of challenges as Group D has Australia, a really strong team.
Each group will play a one-round league in a centralised venue.
The winner from each group will qualify for the finals. If Thailand finishes top of their group in the qualifiers, the second-placed team from the same group will also qualify to the final competition.
The qualifiers will be played from August 27th to September 4th, 2016.
The top four teams from the last edition - DPR Korea, Japan, China and Thailand (who expressed a desire to also play in the qualifiers) - have directly qualified for the finals.
The Vietnamese national squad is scheduled to gather from July 1st.
