Vietnam finished third in 1st Asian Boules Sport Championships 2017

(CPV) - Vietnam finished third in the 1st Asian Boules Sport Championships 2017 took place at Bangkok’s Thonburi University (Thailand) from December 8th-12th, pocketing home two silvers and two bronzes.

The Vietnamese team came second in the women’s triple event, losing out to Thailand 1 in the final match on December 11th - the last day of the tournament. Earlier, the three athletes Nguyen Thi Trang, Nguyen Thi Thi, and Nguyen Thi Cam Duyen beat Malaysian rivals in an easy 13-4 semi-final.

Thailand 2 and Malaysia teams shared the third position.

On the same day, the Vietnamese squad also failed to grab silver in the junior triple event, losing out to Cambodia.

On December 10th, Huynh Cong Tam earned silver in the men’s shooting event. He lost 31-43 to Thai rival Sarawut Sriboonpeng.

His teammate Nguyen Thi Thi claimed a bronze in women’s shooting. She was then defeated 34-36 in the semifinals by No.2 seed Phantipha Wongchuyej of the host.

In the medal tally, Thailand topped with three golds, two silvers, and one bronze, flowing by Cambodia with three golds and two bronzes./.
