Vietnam “harvests” golds in Thailand Open Track and Field Championships 2017

(CPV) - By the first day of the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships 2017, on June 12th, Vietnamese athletes had bagged 5 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Le Tu Chinh (number 368) demonstrates an impressive performance.

Female competitor Le Tu Chinh recorded a 100m event at 11.47 seconds, the best ever result for the nation, approaching her senior Vu Thi Huong (11.30 seconds).

Track-and-field athlete Vu Thi Huong, the “Queen of Speed” in Southeast Asia, has finished her professional career. Now, experts hope to see gold from Le Tu Chinh at the upcoming SEA Games 29 in Malaysia.

Apart from gold by Tu Chinh, the other 4 golds belonged to Duong Van Thai (men’s 1,500m), Vu Thi Ly (women’s 1,500m), Pham Thi Hue (women’s 10,000m), and Nguyen Van Lai (men’s 10,000m).

The silver medal of the Vietnamese delegation went to Nguyen Thi Truc Mai in the women's long jump event, while the 5 bronze medals belonged to Nguyen Tuan Anh (men’s long jump), Do Quoc Luat (men’s 1,500m), Pham Thi Hong Le (women’s 10,000m), Bui Thi Xuan (women’s javelin throw), and Le Van Thao (men’s 10,000m).

Hosted by Thammasat University Sport Complex, the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships 2017 is taking place from June 12th-15th, in which Vietnam sent 23 outstanding athletes./.
