Vietnam national athletics squad enjoys VND1.1 billion bonus

(CPV) - The Vietnam Athletics Federation (VAF) on October 5th honoured and offered a VND1.1 billion bonus to the national athletics squad whose members successfully competed at SEA Games 2017.

Returning from Malaysia, Vietnamese players set a new milestone in nation’s history by bagging 17 golds, 11 silvers, and 6 bronzes, breaking two SEA Games records, and leaving rival Thailand behind to reach top position in the region.

Mr Hoang Ve Dung, VAF President, happily said that all members of the team had demonstrated their best ever performance, surpassing the target of 10 golds, and thus helping the nation to place 3rd in the medal tally.

The bonus come from G7 Entrepreneur Association (VND1 billion) and Hai Long Company (representing LiNing - uniform sponsor) with VND100 million.

Each gold medalist also got a smart TV (43inch) from Nguyen Kim Trade JSC and Samsung Vietnam Group.

According to Decision 32/2011/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, newly-found “Sprinter” Le Tu Chinh received VND135 million for her three golds (100m, 200m and 4x100m relay), VND15 million for breaking SEA Games record, and the same amount transferred to her coach Nguyen Thanh Huong.

Sports expert Nguyen Hong Minh expressed his happiness as the nation surpassed Thailand in athletics and Singapore in swimming.

This October 15th, short-distance runners will travel to Japan for one-month training./.
