Vietnam ranks third at Asian U23 Fencing Championships

(CPV) - The nation ranks in third position in the 6th edition of the Asian U23 Fencing Championships which ended on October 31st, 2017 at the Hanoi Indoor Games Gymnasium.


The event witnessed strong power from the Republic of Korea and Hong Kong (China) rivals.

In the medal tally, the Republic of Korea team won 10/12 golds, four silvers, and five bronzes, followed by Hong Kong (China) with two golds, three silvers, and eight bronzes. Vu Van Hung from Vietnam contributed his silver in the men’s individual Saber event, together with other silvers of the men’s team Saber and the men’s team Épée events. While Vietnamese women pocketed two bronzes in the women’s team Épée and Sabre events.

Mr Phung Le Quang, Head of International Fencing Unit under the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, was happy with the achievement of the national team (45 fencers, the highest number) along with around 200 players from 21 delegations./.
