Vietnam still tops SEA region rankings

(CPV) - Vietnam’s national men’s football team still holds the No.1 spot in the Southeast Asian region, according to FIFA’s ranking released on March 15th.





It is now world No.113, with 293 points to lead the region, followed by the Philippines (265 points, world No.122) and Thailand (238 points, world No.129).

The nation would improve its position next month playing with Jordan rivals in the last match in the qualifying round of ASIAN Cup 2019. If winning, it is like to reach a place in the Top 100.

Asia’s top five teams are Iran, world No.33, Australia (No.37), Japan (No.55), the Republic of Korea (No.59) and China (No.65). The nation is in 16th place.

There is now a change in the world’s top 10. Germany sat atop (1,609 points), followed by Brazil (1,489 points) and Portugal (1,360 points).

With 243 points, the worst mover is Azerbaijan (a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, it is bound by the Caspian sea to the East, Russia to the North, Georgia to the Northwest, Armenia to the West and Iran to the South), world No.127, while the best mover is Andorra (a sovereign landlocked microstate on the Iberian peninsula, in the eastern Pyrenees, bordered by France in the North and Spain in the South) with 232 points, world No.130.

112th is the average position of the nation since FIFA world ranking creation.

The next rankings will be announced on April 12th./.
