It is expected to be an important warm-up for the local players team to test their tactics ahead of the 2018 AFC Championship challenge, slated for late September in Malaysia.

This year’s tournament has attracted the participation of ten Southeast Asian teams, including Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos, Timor Leste and Vietnam, and the two host representatives, Japan U15 and the Miyazaki teams.

In a round robin format, players will be divided into four groups, seeking the best team from each group to the semifinals to duke it out for a position in the final match.

Vietnamese players are in Group D with rivals from Laos and the Miyazaki team.

A total of 18 players have been called up for a 10-day training course at the Hanoi-based Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre, then travelling to the Youth Football Training Centre of PVF (Van Giang district in the Northern province of Hung Yen), including key players of the U15 squad under the manage of Vu Hong Viet (the 2017 AFF champions) and many outstanding names of the U16 team who attended the 2018 AFC Championship qualification last year.

They will have two training sessions with U17 PVF on March 1st and March 3rd. Later on, the team will fly to the “Land of the rising sun” on the evening of March 5th./.
