Vietnamese chess players perform at Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship 2017

(CPV) - Took place in Ulanbaatar (Mongolia) from June 17th-26th, the Vietnamese delegation successfully bagged 20 gold, 20 silver and 12 bronze medals at Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship 2017.


Notably, in the evening competition of June 26th, the nation won an additional six gold, five silver and three bronze medals in the standard event.

Winners of the gold medals were Vu Bui Thi Thanh Van (U12 women’s), Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong (U14 women’s), Tran Thi Diem Quynh (U16 women’s), Nguyen Nghia Gia Binh (U6 open), Pham Tran Gia Phuc (U8 open), and Bui Huy Phuoc (U10 open).

Nguyen Le Cam Hien, who won gold in the U8 world tour two years ago, bagged a silver at the event, meanwhile famous names like Nguyen Anh Khoi (U16 open) and Tran Minh Thang (U18 open) were presented bronze medals. Tran Minh Thang alone also pocketed two golds (individual, rapid and blitz events).
