Medalists are Nguyen Thi Hien, Nguyen Thi Oanh, Hoang Thi Ngoc and Quach Thi Lan, the current strongest Vietnamese athletes in the category. Their rivals are the host, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Thailand, in which India is the strongest. In the final, India pocketed gold with 3:31.34, followed by Japan (3:37.74).

The record has created a solid foundation for Vietnam to earn gold at the upcoming 29th SEA Games.
