This information has been released in a press conference co-organized by Vietnam Youth Union’s Central Committee, Vietnam National Volunteer Centre and Vietjet Air.

The campaign will target at least 28,000 participants, establish and maintain core volunteer teams to protect the marine environment; maintain regular activities at least once a week; minimize the pollution with garbage in at least 50% of the identified areas contaminated with domestic waste; and have at least 50 feasible initiatives for cleaning up the sea.

In addition, a wide range of activities will be held during this campaign, including social security activities to encourage disadvantaged fishermen to continue offshore fishing.

This year's special feature is that every tourist has the chance to attend popularizing activities and collect garbage in some public beaches on weekends such as in Kien Giang, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, and Quang Binh.

In her speech at the press conference, Ms. Do Thi Kim Hoa, Director of the Vietnam National Volunteer Center, noted that the protection of marine environment is not the responsibility of any organization or individual. The campaign focuses on raising awareness among citizens, tourists and the community about the significant role of the sea in human life, calling on the community to join hands to protect the marine environment with practical activities.

“Let’s clean up the ocean” was launched and organized since 2016. It has attracted the participation of many union members, youths, local people, students, international and domestic organizations, being recognized and highly appreciated./.
