Fresh News said Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism Thong Khon confirmed this information after a meeting with Cambodia Angkor Air CEO Hoang Manh Tuan.

At the meeting, Minister Thong Khon asked Cambodia Angkor Air to increase the quality of services on the air route, while suggesting that the carrier soon open direct flights from Cambodia to popular tourism destinations in China.

Currently, Cambodia Angkor Air provides air services on Siem Reap - Da Nang, Phnom Penh - Siem Reap; Phnom Penh - Ho Chi Minh city, Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville, Sihanoukville - Beijing and Sihanoukville - Siem Reap routes.

Cambodia Angkor Air, a joint venture airline between Cambodia and Vietnam Airlines, has been in operation since July 2009 with a mobilized capital of USD100 million.

Earlier, Cambodia had a national airline called “Royal Cambodge Airlines” which was founded in 1994. But in 2001, it ceased operation due to losses, aging aircraft, and failure to meet the safety standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization./.
