Central locality greets first cruise tourists in 2019

Accordingly, the luxury cruise ship Celebrity Constellation carried more than 2,000 tourists to visit central landscapes, with the highlights being UNESCO World Cultural Heritages.

Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Tourism Nguyen Van Phuc said the greeting of the first cruise travelers is part of a series of activities to popularize Vietnam, its country and people, and Thua Thien-Hue in general.

In 2018, total tourist arrivals to Thua Thien - Hue reached 4.25 million, a year-on-year rise of 12%; in which nearly 2.2 million were foreigners. Tourism turnover posted about VND4.4 trillion, a year-on-year increase of nearly 25%.

This year, it strives to greet about 4.5-4.7 million tourists, up 8% over a year earlier, in which international visitors account for 40-45%, and tourists staying overnight are estimated at 2.2-2.3 million, up 7% over a year earlier. Tourism turnover is expected to increase by 10% compared to the same period last year, hitting VND4.7-4.9 trillion./.
