The Da Nang Department of Tourism has piloted the application of Chatbot into Smart Travel to serve local people and visitors on the occasion of APEC 2017 Summit Week.

The application helps Da Nang Tourist Support Centre reduce its work load, enhance the ability of understanding behaviour to provide better services, as well as creates a new friendly communication channel besides websites and other applications.

With an easy-to-use messaging interface, no need to download and being integrated into Facebook, Chatbot brings great convenience to users by acting as a “virtual guide”.

The use of the "virtual guide" is very simple, users can type "DanangFantasiCity" on the FB Messenger application or visit the link: m.me/visitdanang. In addition, they can do code scanning easily at tourist locations or the tourist support centre to use the application without downloading.

Tourists only need to text to Chatbot, it will send greetings and immediately "serve" their requirements anytime, anywhere. Information about tourism such as specialties, accommodation, sightseeing, events, passports, and emergency numbers are all sent by Chatbot to assist visitors.

Chatbot has the ability of identifying languages and communicating in English to improve the effectiveness of addressing language barriers for international travellers.

During the APEC 2017 Summit Week, it is used as channel to inform people and visitors about schedule of activities, the ban on travelling on road routes as well./.

A Chatbot (also known as a talkbot, chatterbot, Bot, IM bot, interactive agent, or Artificial Conversational Entity) is a computer program which conducts a conversation via auditory or textual methods. Specifically, users can make requests by speech or typing, and the Chatbot will automatically find the most appropriate and natural answer.
