The Ministry of Transport has approved detailed scheme for Dong Hoi airport by 2020, with an orientation to 2030.

Under the scheme, the airport will maintain its existing passenger terminal from now to 2020, while it will have a new terminal in the Southeast to meet the capacity of 3 million passengers a year.
By 2030, it will maintain its existing landing road, ensuring the operation of A320/A321 aircrafts and those which are equivalent, and will have reserved land to extend the runway with the length of 3,000 meters when needed.
Apart from having a parallel runway, the aviation project will ensure 12 landing positions and reserve land to develop landing positions to the Northwest.
Together with the approval of the scheme, Minister Nguyen Van The handed over Airports Corporation of Vietnam to promptly complete the procedures of designing and expanding Dong Hoi airport for realization in the end of 2018.
A representative of Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that the airport is fulfilling the capacity of receiving 470,000 passengers, close to the designed capacity of 500,000 passengers a year.
Earlier, in April 2018, FLC group proposed investing, building and upgrading the Dong Hoi airport and the group planned to acquire the airport as a base of Bamboo Airways, which has received the approval from the Cabinet./.
