(CPV) - The Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2019, themed “Green Tourism”, will take place on March 27th-30th in Hanoi with the participation of travel businesses and managers from 47 localities nationwide and 25 countries and territories.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh speaking at the press conference

At a press conference in Hanoi on March 13th, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh said exhibitors from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Peru will join the event for the first time.

“This is the first time DPRK takes part in the outbound tourism event, but so far products of the market have not yet been announced. The introduction of DPRK tourism aims to provide information about the country and people to Vietnam, through that, travel businesses and Vietnamese travelers will have more information about a new destination,” he added.

The event looks to popularize ecological, community-based, and agricultural tourism products; as well as environmental protection and climate change adaptation initiatives in the field.

Firms and state management agencies will have a chance to discuss green tourism and the role of the environment in the future of the sector.

As planned, the Vietnam national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific will launch a major promotion program with more than 100,000 low-cost fares and 18,000 package tours.

The mart is expected to attract 1,000 visitors/.
