Fireworks bring more tourists to Da Nang

(CPV) - The central coastal city of Da Nang greeted an estimated 612,992 tourist arrivals in May 2017, a year-on-year rise of 46.8%; in which foreigners were 205,995, up 81.2% over a year earlier, reported the city Department of Tourism.

Total tourism turnover posted nearly VND1.802 trillion, up 48.8% from the same period last year.

Notably, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) with a series of events contributed to creating an attractive Da Nang in the early days of summer. The first two fireworks display nights, with the theme of Fire (on April 30th) and Earth (on May 20th), drew large audiences.

In addition, the festival’s supportive programs also lured numerous tourists and local residents, creating a jubilant festive atmosphere throughout the city.

The opening ceremony of the sea tourism season attracted about 134,000 visitors; the culinary space of Ngu Hanh (Five Elements) greeted 43,214 visitors, while about 3,000 visitors visited the community cultural space from May 19th to 21st.

Street music programs on April 22nd and May 13th also welcomed 1,400 participants, while an exhibition on antiques of Da Nang people attracted 2,503 visitors, in which more than half were foreigners./.
