Foreigners to Vietnam hit over 9.7 million

Foreign tourists to Vietnam reached more than 1.31 million in July 2019, an 11% rise from the previous month and a 10.7% increase from the same period last year, according to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

With this, foreigners visiting the country from the start of the year numbered over 9.79 million, a 7.9% rise from the same period last year.

Foreigners arriving by air accounted for 79.5% with more than 1 million, by road increased 25.2%, but those by sea decreased by 11.3% from a year earlier.

Markets seeing two-digit tourist growth are Thailand (48.2%), the Republic of Korea (22.1%), Indonesia (21.2%), India (19.9%), Malaysia (13.9%) and Japan (12.9%).

In the seven months, the country provided services to 52.4 million domestic tourists, including 26.9 million staying overnight. Total tourism turnover reached VND401 trillion, a year-on-year rise of 8.67%.

With many events and tourism products to be organized and launched from now to the end of the year, the number of foreign tourists to Vietnam is forecast to grow and hit 17.5-18 million, achieving the set target./.
