Vietnam Airlines operates many flights on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh city route
With a distance of about 450 kilometers, the flight path from Seoul Gimpo to Jeju International Airport lured more than 13 million passengers, a year-on-year rise of 9.4%, with about 180 flights a day.
It was followed by the Melbourne - Sydney Kingsford Smith (Australia) route with more than 9 million passengers, Sapporo - Tokyo Haneda (Japan) with over 8.7 million and Fukuoka - Haneda with over 7.8 million. In fact, nine of the 10 busiest air routes are domestic services.
Notably, in spite of being the world’s largest aviation market, the US does not own the busiest air route. According to Routes, air services in Asia-Pacific are occupying the list of the 100 busiest air routes, accounting for about 70% of total passengers.
According to new data from the International Air Transport Association, airlines carried 4.1 billion passengers in 2017, an increase of 7.3% over 2016, representing an additional 280 million trips by air.
