HCM city seeks tourism cooperation with Japan

The Ho Chi Minh city Department of Tourism has signed a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) with Japan’s city Nagano as part of the city’s trade and investment promotion activities in Japan from April 6th to 15th, 2017, reported the Saigon Times.

According to the city Department of Tourism, in the near future, the two cities will carry out numerous acts together to increase tourist arrivals exchange between the two sides.

On April 13th, the city also signed a cooperative tourism deal with Osaka. It also held a investment promotion, trade and tourism conference and arrange tourism promotion booths at International House in Osaka on April 13th and 14th.

Japan is the third biggest foreign tourism market of Ho Chi Minh city. Last year, more than 377,000 Japanese tourists visited the city, a 8% rise against 2015. Tourist arrivals from the market to the city made up more than half of those to Vietnam.

In late March 2017, representatives from Japan Tourism Agency, Japan National Tourism Organisation and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism signed a MoU) to intensify two-way tourism exchange between the two countries.

Vietnam aims to greet 1 million tourist arrivals from Japan in 2018 compared to more than 740,000 arrivals in 2016 and the country expects to send 500,000 Vietnamese tourists to the market in the same year.

The Vietnamese delegation of trade and investment promotion in Osaka, Hyoko, Nagano and Tokyo (Japan) is led by Mr. Dinh La Thang, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee with 40 representatives for departments, branches and tens of enterprises in the city./.
