Ho Chi Minh city to become attractive, friendly and safe destination

The Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee has issued a plan to realise resolution 08-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing tourism into a key economic sector, and Directive 07-CT/TW of the Standing Board of the city Party Committee on tasks for developing tourism until 2020.

The plan targets to make Ho Chi Minh city an attractive, friendly and safe destination, with synchronous, modern and professional infrastructure and increasingly high quality services.
It is striving to obtain an average growth of international tourists of 15-20% per year, at 10-11 million by 2020; and domestic tourists increasing by 10-15% per year, at 33-35 million by 2020.
Under the plan, tourism will become one of the three spearhead economic and service sectors, with turnover increasing by 15-16% per year, at VND165-170 trillion by 2020, contributing 11% or more in the city’s Gross Regional Domestic Product./.
