Hoi An expands pedestrian zone

From April 12th, 2017, Hoi An city expanded its pedestrian space to ease the overcrowding around some tourist attractions.

The expanded space includes the entire Tran Phu street, Nguyen Hue street from Tran Phu to Nguyen Hue – Phan Chau Trinh crossroads, the entire Cong Nu Ngoc Hoa street and a section in front of the square along Hoai River.

The hours remain unchanged: between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. in dry season and between 3 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. in rainy season.

Previously, the pedestrian space in Hoi An already included Tran Phu, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Bach Dang, Nguyen Phuc Chu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Hoang Van Thu and Le Loi streets.

In the expanded space, Hoi An also arranged an array of cultural and entertainment activities such as folk games, cuisine market and an art street.

Since 2004, the pedestrian zone project, approved by the Hoi An People’s Committee, has been a unique tourism cultural product of the locality. It received the support of local people because of the actual benefit to the community, contributing to economic and tourism development of Hoi An./.
