Hot spots of Da Nang, Quang Nam during APEC

Da Nang and Quang Nam are the two destinations where APEC leaders and spouses visited the most during the APEC 2017 Summit Week.

1. Da Nang Museum

On November 6th, a delegation of 35 spouses of delegates attending the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) visited the Da Nang Museum to study the culture and development history of the city.

The delegation was introduced to the beauty of sea cultural heritage, the colourful festivals of Co Tu ethnic group, the historical periods of Vietnam and the development of the central coastal city since 1997.

They expressed their impression of Da Nang's exhibition space and cultural values, and expressed their hopes of returning the city to understand more about the land and people.

2. Da Nang Museum of Fine Arts

On November 9th, Ms. Lynda Babao-O’Neill, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea’s spouse, visited the Da Nang Museum of Fine Arts to study typical art works of Vietnamese painters in general and Da Nang in particular at the exhibition space of modern art.

3. Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture

On November 9th, Assoc. Prof. Naraporn Chan-o-cha, Thai Prime Minister’s spouse, paid a visit to Museum of Cham Sculpture. She was personally introduced to Katazome paintings, entitled “Vietnam in the miniature world”, by Japanese female artist Toba Mika.

“I was given a great opportunity to learn about the Museum of Cham Sculpture, and found that Thailand and Vietnam have similarities in Hindu culture through artefacts and typical sculpture of the culture of the two countries,” she wrote in the souvenir book.

On November 11th, Ms. Nancy Lange de Kuczynski, Peruvian Prime Minister’s spouse and delegates visited the museum.

4. APEC Park

On November 9th, the APEC Park in Da Nang officially opened with the participation of delegates, senior leaders of 21 APEC member economies.

Covering around 3,047 square meters, next to the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture and the Dragon bridge, the park has received support from the member economies by designing, constructing and sending their sculptures for display.

5. Hoi An ancient town

On November 11th, a tour to Hoi An ancient town in Quang Nam for spouses of leaders of APEC economies was held under the hosting of President Tran Dai Quang’s spouse, Nguyen Thi Hien.

The delegation visited Pagoda Bridge, enjoyed the ancient space, played folk games and studied the daily life of Hoi An people. They also paid a visit to stores of silk, embroidered products, lanterns and handicraft and art products, and had talks with small traders at each stop.

Then, the delegation came to Hoi An silk village which has provided silk products based on traditional silk weaving methods for more than 300 years, and also is a place of protecting and promoting the quintessence of traditional craft villages in Hoi An.

6. Tam Thanh Mural Village

On November 10th, Ms. Kim Jung-Sook, the Republic of Korea's Prime Minister’s spouse, visited the Tam Thanh Mural Village in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam and joined drawing activities to encourage the spirit of local people.

The village project was planned by Korea Foundation in combination with Tam Ky city People’s Committee and UN Habitat Vietnam, and was carried out in June 2016. Under the hands of painters from the Republic of Korea, more than 100 houses in the poor village in Quang Nam wore vivid pictures.

7. Than Tai mountain tourism area

From November 6th to 11th, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Minister for Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin came the Than Tai mountain tourism area in Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city.

They enjoyed Vietnamese food such as country pancake, nem lui, and bun cha (dish of grilled pork and noodle) and experienced mineral spring hot and mud bath./.
