Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia holds sales missions in two big cities in Vietnam

(CPV) - The Ministry of Tourism of Republic of Indonesia along with 16 tourism businesses (sellers) from tourism destinations in the country, namely Bali, Yogyakarta, Batam, and West Java, conduct a Sales Mission of 10 Indonesian Branding Destinations in two big cities in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City on March 22nd 2019 and Hanoi on March 25th, 2019.

Indonesia prioritizes five major tourism markets

The Sales Mission is intended to increase networking and business contacts between Indonesian sellers and Vietnamese buyers which are expected to have an impact on increasing sales of Indonesian tour packages in Vietnam.

In this activity, the Ministry of Indonesia in conjunction with the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi and Indonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh will promote tourism destinations such as Bali, Yogyakarta, Batam and West Java to increase international tourist arrivals from Vietnam, which is targeted 100,000 tourists in 2019. Tourist arrivals from Vietnam to Indonesia in 2018 were recorded at 75,632 people, the number is even not yet reaching 1% of Vietnam's outbound tourists totaling 9,772,570 in 2018, thus, making it an excellent opportunity to improve promotion in Vietnam.

The business activity carried out in the Sales Mission in Vietnam is Business to Business (B2B) so that participants can sell tour packages and collaborate with the 30 local buyers in Vietnam. In addition, in this activity the Ministry will also promote a new direct flight route by Vietjet Air, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) – Denpasar (DPS). The inaugural direct flight is planned to be held in the first week of June 2019 with ticket sales starting in the 3rd week of March 2019.

"In recent years, the numbers of Indonesian tourists visited Vietnam as well as Vietnamese tourists visited Indonesia keep increasing. Last year, there were 87,942 Indonesian tourists to Vietnam while 75,632 Vietnamese tourists visited Indonesia. The number is even not yet reaching 1% of Vietnam's outbound tourists totalling 9,772,570 in 2018, thus, making today’s event is an excellent opportunity to improve tourism promotion in Vietnam. This year 2019, the target of Indonesia is 100.000 visitors coming from Vietnam," said Mr. Ibnu Hadi, Ambassador of Indonesia in Vietnam.

The Sales Mission activities are held in a back to back with the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2019 taking place at the Hanoi International Center for Exhibition (I.C.E), Hanoi, on March 27th - 30th, 2019. In VITM 2019, the Ministry of Tourism provides 72 m² of area to facilitate 15 (fifteen) sellers from consisting of travel agents / tour operators and hotels from Bali, Yogyakarta, East Java, and North Sumatra and 1 (one) Government Tourism Office from Yogyakarta./.
