More direct flight to Khanh Hoa to be launched

Bangkok Airways will launch a direct air route from Vietnam’s Cam Ranh International Airport to Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport from January 25th, said a representative of the carrier.

The air route will have four return flights a week on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, using Airbus 319 aircraft with a capacity of more than 140 passengers.

Bangkok Airways is a regional airline based in Bangkok. It operates routes to 20 destinations in Thailand, Cambodia, China, Japan, Laos, Maldives, Myanmar, Singapore and Vietnam. In Vietnam, the carrier has opened direct flights to Hanoi, Da Nang and Phu Quoc.

The launch of the air route is expected to attract more Thai tourists to the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa and offer better conditions for people in Khanh Hoa and neighboring localities to visit Thailand.

Earlier, the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association announced that the Republic of Korea’s T’Way low-cost carrier would operate flights from Incheon International Airport to Cam Ranh airport from February 20th, 2019, with a daily flight.  

With the new air route, T’way is among the low-cost carriers providing the most air services to Vietnam with 8 flights. Earlier, it operated flights from Seoul to Ho Chi Minh city and Da Nang.

According to statistics, in 2018, Khanh Hoa greeted an estimated 6.3 million tourists, a year-on-year rise of 15.6%; including 2.8 million foreigners, a year-on-year rise of 37.9%. Total tourism turnover was estimated at VND22 trillion, up 27.2%.

This year, the locality sets targets of welcoming more than 6.8 million tourists, up 7% against 2018, in which foreign tourists number 3.3 million, up 18%; earning a turnover of VND22.5 trillion./.
