Over 1 million foreigners visit Vietnam in July

(CPV) - Number of foreign tourists to Vietnam in July reached more than 1.036 million, a 9.2% rise from the previous month and a 21.1% increase over a year earlier, reported Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Totalling from the start of the year, the country greeted over 7.24 million foreign tourist arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 28.8%. Of this, foreigners coming by air accounted for 84.4% at nearly 6.2 million, up 31.3% over a year earlier while those by sea and road were over 170,000 and some 946,000; up 13.3% and 17.3%.

Almost markets sending tourists to Vietnam saw growth with China taking the lead at 51% with more than 2.21 million. It was followed by Russia (49.3%), the Republic of Korea (46.8%), Hong Kong - China (30.1%), Spain (27.8%), Cambodia (23.6%), the Philippines (23.4%) and Taiwan - China (20.8%).

For market share, Asia occupied the most with 73.9% at over 5.35 million and Europe with 1.11 million (15.3%) while five Western European markets with visa exemption extension continued to remain positive growth.

Over the past seven months, the country served 46.9 million domestic tourists, in which 22.5 million stayed overnight; grossing a revenue of VND306.7 trillion, up 25.7% year on year./.
