Over 5.2 million foreigners visit Vietnam in five months

Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam in May reached an estimated 972,844, an increase of 26.8% over a year earlier, reported the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Totalling the first five months of the year, over 5.25 million foreign tourist arrivals visited the country, a year-on-year increase of 29.6%.
Most key markets sending tourists to Vietnam saw growth. Specifically, China gained the strongest growth during the period with 1.5 million, up 55% over a year earlier. Additional markets with rapid growth in the five months are Russia (52.8%), the Republic of Korea (40%), Cambodia (30%) and Spain (29%).
Specifically, in May 2017, tourists from the five Western European countries with visa waivers to Vietnam witnessed growth from 10% to 29%. With the impressive growth impetus, the tourism sector expects to greet 11 million foreigner tourists this year./.
