Passenger arrivals through airports expected to exceed 100 million

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) said the number of flights from and to the country reached 373,000 in the first 10 months of the year, a year-on-year rise of 10.4%.

As many as 374,000 transit flights were operated, a year-on-year rise of 13.5%. The number of passengers passing through airports reached 87.4 million, up 11%, and the volume of cargo posted 1.23 million tons, up 9.5%.

In October alone, the number of flights operating from and to Vietnam was 36,600, up 12.6% year on year.

The number of transit flights was 36,400, up 5.3%. About 8.3 million aviation passengers were served, up 5.3% and the volume of cargo was 131,000 tons, up 8.6%.   

According to CAAV, domestic airlines carried more than 3.9 million passengers this month, up 3.9%, and over 37,000 tons of cargo, up 38.6%.

Earlier, CAAV head Dinh Viet Thang said the number of passengers through Vietnam’s airports system is expected to exceed 100 million for the first time in 2018, reaching 105 million. 

In 2017, passenger arrivals through airports reached more than 94 million, up 16% over a year earlier./.
