Pilot tour carries 700 tourists to Con Co Island

(CPV) – After two weeks of pilot operation of a tour to Con Co Island in Quang Tri province, the island has greeted 700 tourists, reported the island district People’s Committee on April 25th.

This is the first time Con Co put the tour into pilot operation, transferring visitors from the mainland to the island by speedboat.

The tour will be officially launched next month, with an expected price of VND250,000 (over USD11.03) with the boat departing from Cua Viet Port in Gio Linh district and taking more than one hour to reach Con Co.

From mid-April, Con Co piloted passenger transport by the speedboat GreenlineDP C5, carrying a maximum 50 people at a speed of 25 nautical miles per hour. Travellers to the island will visit the traditional room, lighthouse, military medical tunnel and Thai Van A historical relic.

Con Co Island is located in southern Gulf of Tonkin and is an important international air and sea gateway. The island district was established in October 2004 with an area of about 2.3 square kilometers, and is 15-17 nautical miles from the mainland. There are about 10 households living on the island./.
