Quang Ninh welcomes 4.8 million tourists in five months

Tourist arrivals to the northern province of Quang Ninh were estimated to reach 685,660 in May 2016, bringing the total figure for the first five months to 4.8 million, 60% of the year’s plan or a year-on-year rise of 4%, reported the provincial Department of Tourism.

Of this, foreign arrivals were 1.82 million, up 59% over a year earlier. Total tourism turnover in the five months reached over VND5.93 trillion, 74.2% of the year's plan, up 12% compared to the same period last year.
The province successfully organized the Ha Long - Quang Ninh Tourism Week 2016 with numerous cultural, sporting and tourism events, creating a positive effect to promote the image Quang Ninh's people and landscapes.
During the week, a record number of tourists flocked to the province with nearly 500,000 arrivals, and 100% of rooms were occupied.
Specifically, on the occasion of the April 30th and May 1st holiday, tourists to Ha Long Bay reached nearly 70,000 arrivals, while those to other islands in the locality posted from 12,000 to 15,000 arrivals. Mong Cai city also received about 25,000 tourist arrivals./.
